Rivian Waypoint Chargers unveiled at Radnor Lake State Park
October 1, 2021 marked the opening of the first two Rivian Waypoint electric vehicle charging stations in a Tennessee State Park.
Located in Nashville, Tennessee, Radnor Lake State Park became the first TN State Park to welcome the Level 2 EV charging stations as a part of a partnership between the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), Rivian and the TN State Parks system.
TDEC announced July 2021 that they planned to install Rivian charging stations at all 56 TN State Parks as possible. Installation was set to begin in Fall 2021 and will stretch into March 2022.
An unveiling and ribbon-cutting ceremony was held in the Radnor Lake West parking lot where the two new charging stations were installed.
Rivian also brought a blue, R1T electric truck to the event and allowed attendees to take a look. After the ribbon-cutting, the Rivian R1T became the first vehicle to plug-in to the Waypoint charging station.
According to PlugShare, “Rivian Waypoint stations with two J1772 plugs. Located next to the west side entrance to Radnor Lake.” The stations are currently free for the public to use.
More Rivian Waypoint charging stations will be installed in the coming months across the state of Tennessee at State Parks.
