Drive Electric TN presents for League of Women Voters

On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, Drive Electric Tennessee Coordinator Savannah Robertson delivered a presentation to the League of Women Voters of Murfreesboro/Rutherford County about the realities of electric vehicles for individuals and how the transition to EVs will affect that state of Tennessee on an economic and environmental scale.

The DriveElectricTN portion of the presentation allowed Robertson to focus on teaching the group about EV and charging unit basics along with focusing on how they can get involved with the initiative right now to make a difference. This included specifically focusing on the Policies & Programs DET Working Group where individuals can join and contribute ideas for policy-related projects.

Along with DET’s presence, the League of Women Voters group invited Distributed Energy Resources Coordinator Tim Suddoth from Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation (MTEMC) to speak about renewable energy projects and minimizing one’s personal energy use. MTE is a current organizational member of the DriveElectricTN project.

The meeting’s “Earth Day 2022” theme was “Invest in Our Planet” with the goal of helping Rutherford County citizens see where their community can invest in renewable energy. This meeting was held virtually to allow for speakers to present remotely as needed.

After the “Going Renewable in Rutherford” program, the group made the speakers’ presentations and the recorded meeting available online for the public to view. A link will be provided below.
